Where to start your journey? Always the hardest thing to do is take the first step, target the start of some action. Therefore, first you need to mentally tune in, catch the right wave. Having decided to become a freelancer, you should start with the simplest, namely:

  1. Prepare computer and internet access. This is not only the main tool of a freelancer, but also a workplace. You need to clearly remember that the computer is now your work, that is, when you turn it on, you are already at the workplace, and when you turn it off, you leave work.
  2. Get electronic wallets for which payment will be made in the future. This is one of the motivations for work. Agree, the idea that a certain amount of money will soon be credited to it encourages action.

Preparation of instant messengers and social networks

For reference! It is quite logical that for work you will need all kinds of ways to communicate with the customer: email, phone, skype, social network page, WhatsApp, Telegram. The more of them, the better, so that the client is comfortable.

When working remotely, you must follow the same rules as when interviewing offline. Names and the profile itself, nicknames must be official, presentable. There is no need to be creative in this case.

The name must be your real name. Also follows take a quality photo on which you look well-groomed and business-like. This also applies to pages on social networks. Necessary wisely approach the placement of photos and other information.

If the employer visits this page, then he should have an extremely positive opinion about you. Therefore, every detail matters, creating a certain image for you.

Choosing a profession

Of course, it's great if you initially know what you will be doing as a freelancer. However, most often this question is extremely difficult and what to start from scratch is usually not clear. This one can help list of popular and in-demand professions which can be understood even without education:

Self-study or online courses for a quick start

The hardest thing about becoming a freelancer is choosing a profession. If the choice is made, then the next step will be self-development. You need to learn as much as possible about the chosen direction, read, listen, watch various sources. This will be the beginning of your professional growth.

Most often, such training is paid. However, it is worth noting that business always requires investment. You are a so-called business project in which you need to invest in order to develop and grow further. In this case, the choice is always yours.

Self-study, although free, requires more effort, effort and time. It is important to plan it effectively, as your earnings will depend on it in the future.

We create a portfolio

Most people before buying anything first read reviews and only then make a choice. Before we go to see a certain film in the cinema, we read the opinions of others about it.

Before choosing a manicure master, the girl first looks at his work. To order a bouquet for a gift, first look at the florist's catalog. Reviews save time and money and make life easier.

This rule also applies to performers. The customer wants to find a professional, and therefore, looks at the completed work of a potential candidate. Therefore, for a successful career, it is extremely important to create a portfolio that will showcase your work and testimonials from satisfied employers.

Note! To create it, you will have to work for free, or at least for a nominal fee. It is worth notifying your friends and acquaintances about your lesson. Most likely, one of them will need your services.

You can also place an ad with a detailed description on your page from a social network, for example, the now popular Instagram. So there is an opportunity to reach a larger audience.

Examples of quality work performed will only benefit and will help to find more customers, it is easier to build relationships with them. With experience, self-confidence will grow. In addition, competence will increase self-esteem, and bring pleasant sensations. All initial fears will go away. The main thing is not to stop.

Where to look for a freelance job?

Aspiring flangers can find work freelance marketplaces. To do this, you need to register and search for a suitable order.

Their cost is usually small, so do not expect that you will earn a lot of money right away.

Opportunities increase if you perceive the exchange as a platform where you can find regular customers.

It is possible to start with small cheap tasks for 100-200 rubles. Employers are often looking for responsible performers for more voluminous work.

Also, do not be afraid of difficult tasks. Often this uncertainty says that they are difficult, but in fact it is quite feasible. In any case, it is impossible to know if you do not try. Obstacles must be overcome, to fight with yourself. Only then can you move to the next level.

Where else can a newbie find a job?

Exchanges are not the only source of remote earnings. You can earn income on the Internet from any website, blog or Internet project. The main thing is to be able to prove yourself. Job search methods can also be as follows:

Monitor your reputation

Important! Reputation should be your first rule. It is important to achieve its perfection. Many freelancers believe that it is not at all necessary to complete the task on time, or that it is even possible to change your mind about doing it. However, this is a huge misconception. This behavior is unlikely to make you a successful freelancer.

If a certain deadline is set, then it must be observed. It is very important. Not only the quality of the work itself, but also its timely delivery plays a big role.

Based on this, a reputation is formed, thanks to which in the future you will no longer have to look for customers, they will contact you themselves. Responsible and competent professionals are highly valued.

Useful video

In the video you will see a story about how to become a freelancer without experience in a particular profession:

To work remotely, freelancers do not need to have a special education at all. Anyone can be successful in this business. The main thing is to remember some important points:

  • The desire to move forward, to develop, as well as a decisive attitude are already half the success. You need to believe in yourself and everything will work out.
  • First you need to learn a little theory, then to effectively apply it in practice, along with diligence and purposefulness.

Thus, if you do not take risks, then it is unlikely that you will be able to achieve any results. No need to be afraid, it is important to go forward to success, try, experiment. At the same time, it is necessary to remember about formality when compiling profiles, responsibility and discipline when performing tasks.

These are the components of the reputation, which in the future will become your calling card and will allow you to attract more customers.

First steps in freelancing

How to make a portfolio from scratch

  • It is important to fill in accounts, correct information about yourself in social networks so that a potential customer sees you as a serious employee who is ready to complete any task. Avatars should look solid, and nicknames should be harmonious and memorable.
  • A beginner in the portfolio should indicate their strengths, as well as list skills and abilities. When the first successfully completed orders appear, you should place links to your work in the appropriate section of the portfolio.
  • Alternatively, you can write an article on your blog for yourself or for friends, use this link for a portfolio. They also post the processed video or slideshow with retouched photos on the YouTube channel and provide a link to it. You must show everything you know in an accessible form.
  • On the exchanges of copywriters, simple test tasks are often given that raise the rating of a beginner. Earning resources provide a portfolio option with democratic conditions and clear settings.
  • The first orders can be taken both for free and for a symbolic payment: it is important to start with positive reviews and a steadily growing rating.

Top exchanges for earning a novice freelancer

  • The most convenient and intuitive exchanges are Advego, text.ru, eTXT, Textsale. Interesting projects can be found on the Weblancer, Kwork, Freelancejob web resources, as well as on the Freelance.ru website. Foreign resources freelancer.com and upwork.com will help you find income.
  • Copywriters will like copylancer.ru, turbotext.ru, qcomment.ru, contentmonster.ru and textbroker.ru exchanges.
  • Programmers and 1C specialists will be interested in 1clancer.ru, devhuman.com and modber.ru resources.
  • Designers and illustrators should pay attention to logopod.ru, illustrators.ru, russiancreators.ru, dribbble.com, behance.net and topcreator.org.

What to choose: self-employment or sole proprietorship?

Starting a career, it is enough to be self-employed in order not to have problems with the law. This is an option for those who combine study and full-time work. Further, in order not to conflict with the tax authorities and the legal system of the country, to secure a guaranteed pension and have all the necessary reporting documents, it is better to switch to individual entrepreneurship over time.

Choosing an e-wallet

Depending on which exchange or type of employment the freelancer has chosen, he must decide on cashing out the earned funds. This requires a bank card of the country in which he lives, as well as a maximum of electronic wallets - for example, WebMoney, Yandex-money, QIWI are considered the main wallet options. The first wallet is convenient because you can create any kind of wallets inside the main account - dollar, ruble, euro, etc.

You should also take care of communication with intermediary sites that withdraw and convert funds. Therefore, in addition to the intricacies of the specialty, it will be necessary to study the features of Internet banking and maintaining your own accounting.

Many resources have a referral program that provides passive income. The meaning of referral projects is that the user will bring other newcomers to this site and receive a small reward for each.

Work with clients

How to get your first order

Do not be afraid to apply for the first orders. If the conditions are clear, and your knowledge will allow you to complete the task, it's worth the risk. In the application, in addition to readiness to proceed, it is necessary to indicate why the customer should entrust this task to you. After receiving the first experience, the performer begins to confidently increase the volume of work performed, to distinguish between controversial nuances in technical buildings.

How to communicate with customers

Communication with the customer involves mutual respect and distance without familiarity and rudeness. The performer must be extremely polite and correct even when defending his interests.

If it is possible to be online around the clock, you can indicate that you are always online for prompt communication with you. If you do not want to be distracted - indicate your work schedule and stay on the exchange.

When you go on vacation or go offline for a long time, it is worth setting a date for when you will return and be able to start working again. These rules will help you build relationships with people correctly and not lose customers.

In the event of force majeure, it is also worth having the opportunity to go online to inform the customer about the problem or ask to shift the deadline for the delivery of work. Bad form - do not complete the task taken, disappearing from the client's field of vision. This threatens with a blacklist and a negative review.

How to turn customers into repeat customers

For customers to become permanent, they should be retained by excellent quality, consistent performance and stable cooperation. Customers appreciate the safety, reliability of the contractor and the absence of risks.

You can also periodically make pleasant discounts, giving the client the opportunity to save.

The quality of execution, online availability, a clear understanding of the requirements, meeting deadlines is the key to a stable influx of customers.

Financial pillow or how to protect yourself during periods of downtime

The presence of customers with different solvency is a guarantee of no downtime. It is necessary to form a list of regular customers, paying special attention to those who can provide a good workload. It is worth keeping in touch with those clients who need help from time to time. It is unwise to lose some employers from the previous price segment, while maintaining past agreements with them regarding prices.

In case of downtime on one exchange, you can earn on another resource. You should take care of updating accounts in advance so that skills and abilities are presented as attractively as possible on 2-3 exchanges.

How to price your services. Competition issues.

The price must correspond to the level of professionalism of the performer and be adequate for the customer.

  • The approach to pricing looks like this: the cost of the service is taken as a basis and a share of the profit for the client is assigned. Beginners should take a closer look at the price categories of users on the exchange they have chosen as a source of income. Often they start with prices of 5, 8, 10 rubles per kilosign.
  • Also, the price is built on the basis of competitive advantages. If you speak a foreign language and can translate, this increases your weight in the eyes of the customer over ordinary copywriters. If you speak not only English, but also German, French, Spanish, your chances of earning will be higher than those who simply translate from English.
  • It is better to decide for yourself on tariffs, where a low price will correspond to a small amount of work with minimal requirements, and a high price will correspond to an order with a serious technical task and many requirements. More often, the customer will choose the third option - the "golden mean".

When to raise your prices

The price can be gradually raised, getting a higher rating and expanding your range of services.

When a professional with the highest possible level works at a low price, he can bewilder the customer. The high price and excellent level of proficiency in the specialty inspire respect and the desire to compromise, to negotiate on more favorable terms of cooperation for the contractor.

How much does a freelancer earn?

At first, earnings can be from a thousand rubles a month with minimal employment, but with career growth, income can increase in proportion to the effort and time spent. It is quite realistic to first reach the minimum wage level, then increase profits to 40-50-60 thousand per month and above.

Getting to the professional level

To grow in the eyes of customers and competitors, you need to constantly develop and keep abreast of innovations in your field. Copywriters should master new services for checking texts and SEO parameters, and implement LSI copywriting. Designers should follow the updates of graphic programs, and programmers should follow the trends in the development of the market for their services.

The trust of the customer is caused by professionals who do not have negative reviews, deadline failures, and prices correspond to the level of services.

The portfolio is also changing: now you can reflect successful examples of texts, videos, photos and illustrations, focus on the number of whitelist clients, a huge number of positive reviews. In the description of services, you should not skimp on listing each of your skills and regalia.

A copywriter who started from scratch can eventually become the owner of a small team where beginners work with texts and complete their first orders under his guidance.

Freelancing pros and cons

Among the advantages of freelancing, it is worth mentioning complete control over your working time, the ability to secure a free lifestyle and even travel on the job. This is a stable income growth, an opportunity to earn money, subject to a professional attitude to business. The advantage is also cooperation with adequate employers on completely acceptable conditions, and the contractor himself can change the latter.

Among the minuses are the likelihood of time pressure and irregular working hours in case of force majeure, instability of income in the absence of a keen interest in work. You should also remember: no one will pay you for sick leave, maternity leave, and you will go on vacation at your own expense. Many lack a friendly team. But in general, freelancing has more pros than cons!

Freelancing is not a profession, but a format of work when an employee works outside the state, most often remotely. Most freelancers combine work in several companies. This is very convenient for the employer: you do not need to pay social security contributions for the employee and take care of your workplace. And for the freelancer himself, it’s even better: you can build your own work schedule and work from anywhere in the world!

Freelancing History

Freelancing was started by American researcher Jack Nilles. He proposed the word "telecommuting", in Russian - "teleaccess", believing that employees do not have to be present at the workplace during the day - they can perform the necessary operations in any other place. He planned to contact them by phone.

Later, the US authorities considered Nilles' innovation beneficial - it allows solving the issue of employment in remote areas and reduces the burden on transport in large cities. So "telework" was given a start to the big world. The term was gradually replaced by "free lancer", which literally translates as "free spearman".

Freelancing in Russia appeared in the active phase of the development of the Internet and at first united people who worked for foreign companies and were looking for clients on Western Internet portals. The official start date of Russian freelancing is May 14, 2005 - the day of the launch of the first Russian-language freelance exchange free-lance.ru, which currently does not exist.

How to become a freelancer: step by step instructions

Step 1. Decide on a niche

How to become a freelancer And is it realistic for everyone? We answer: no. This is possible for those who know how to do something remotely via the Internet. For example, a car service employee cannot do his job remotely, but if he has the skills of an estimator, in the evenings he can remotely make estimates for various companies, and this will be freelancing.

Today, more and more work is being done remotely. Freelancers can be:

  • journalists, copywriters and typesetters;
  • translators;
  • seo and smm specialists;
  • programmers, targetologists and internet marketers;
  • consultants (in law, economics, fitness, etc.);
  • tutors, teachers, coaches and trainers;
  • engineers, developers and estimators;
  • designers, etc.

Surely among your skills there is something that people are willing to pay for, and that you can do remotely. This will allow you to at least find a part-time job as a freelancer.

Step 2. We enter the freelance exchanges

Now that you understand what kind of business will allow you to earn money remotely, you need to find clients ( How to become a successful freelancer without them? That's right - no way!). This will help special sites where employers are looking for performers - freelance exchanges. Examples of such sites are www.fl.ru, www.freelance.ru, www.freelancejob.ru, www.weblancer.net, etc.

Each of them can be used for free, but this mode provides few opportunities for finding clients (for example, you can answer only 5 projects per day and the choice of projects will be several times smaller). If freelancing is your part-time job, look for jobs in the demo version on several sites at the same time. If you intend to fully support yourself through freelancing, it is better to take paid accounts on one or two exchanges, and use free features on the rest.

The scheme of such a site looks something like this:

  • You register on the exchange, fill out a profile, post a portfolio - Customers post information about what work needs to be done. A feed of projects is formed from their requests.
  • You select the ad you need in the project feed and, together with other specialists, answer in the comments below it - offer the employer your price and deadlines for the work, or agree to the price proposed by the customer;
  • The customer selects the project executor by examining his portfolio and discussing the conditions. If this is you, then after the work is completed, you receive payment and feedback, and also leave your feedback to the employer.

Customers on freelance exchanges prefer to choose performers who have a lot of good reviews and a high rating (it depends on the number of orders you have completed and your experience on the exchange).

Step 3. Create a profile and portfolio

Having decided on the site, you need to present yourself on it in such a way that the employer wants to order the service from you. For this:

  • Complete your profile as completely as possible. Indicate in it contacts for communication (messengers and email, a page on a social network, phone and website), the cost of all types of work you perform, preferences regarding the schedule and place of work.
  • Tell us briefly and interestingly about yourself - sell yourself as an expert in a few lines. Write about the benefits of working with you, voice your achievements;
  • Complete your portfolio! Attach to your profile as many diverse jobs as possible in your specialization, so that the employer can easily assess the level of your competence. If your work is a photo (for example, you are a designer), upload them to the service in the best quality.

Step 4. Find clients

This is the most difficult step in the process of becoming a freelance artist, but that's why you came to the freelance exchange, right?

If so, and you are serious, scroll through the project feed on the exchange of your choice, after filtering all the proposed work in accordance with your specialization (if you are a copywriter, you are not interested in projects for designers in the feed). Respond to projects that suit you.

In a few hours, when new job offers appear on the exchange, the procedure must be repeated. Be prepared to spend long hours at the beginning on tracking projects and waiting for feedback - you are still new to the exchange, you do not have reviews, and clients will not fight for the opportunity to hire you. For the same reason at the start of the freelance path:

  • Don't name too high prices. Other things being equal, the order will be given to a person with a high rating and a lot of good reviews, and this is not about you yet.
  • Don't send a boilerplate response to every client- All people have different needs. Read what they write in the project description and edit your answer according to the content.
  • Take the time to communicate with the client, even if he is in no hurry to place an order - answer questions politely and completely. Try to please - a lot of freelancers do not want to spend time on this and lose clients. The easier it is to stand out against their background with your human attitude and adequate response to requirements - such freelancers are sure to come back for orders.
  • Stay in touch. For most customers, work or an answer to some question related to the fulfillment of an order is required instantly, and if you are not in the access zone, you will lose the opportunity to earn. In the same way, it is harmful to disappear after receiving an order - it is better to pick up the phone and tell the client that work is in progress and tell about progress than to ruin the relationship.
  • Don't miss deadlines. This is the easiest way to not get paid (which is paid after the fact) and ruin your reputation by earning bad reviews (which will make it harder to find new orders). Better agree on deadlines with a margin or work at night if you want to become a successful freelancer.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients. After you have completed the order, exchange contacts with the client outside the exchange and from time to time remind yourself: “Hello, we have already worked with you, I am doing X. Do you need any more help in this matter? I'll be glad to help!" Elementary courtesy and focus on long-term relationships are characteristic of few freelancers - if you did your job well, you will be noticed and the number of regular customers will increase.

Attention! the client base can be collected not only with the help of freelance exchanges. Tell your friends about what you do and write about it in your social media accounts - let word of mouth bring you additional orders.

Step 5. Working with the client base

If you did everything right in Step 4, in a month or two you will have a small pool of regular customers, your rating on the exchange will grow, and the prices for work can be raised a little.

After that, continue to work in the same vein - attracting new customers and being attentive to old ones. Add new works to your portfolio and work, if possible, on several freelance exchanges at the same time - this will bring more orders.

The day will come when the work will be several days (or even weeks!) In advance, and you will start earning more than as an employee, working full time. Then visits to the exchange can be reduced or even stopped.

A couple of important words in the end

If you managed to go through the path described above and understand, how to become a freelancer from scratch, this is not a reason to relax and turn up your nose along with prices.

Remember that you have thousands of competitors. Therefore, you need to constantly develop in your professional field, collect feedback and work on the quality of the service you provide. Do well even when you have already achieved success - and stable earnings with a free schedule with the ability to plan your life on your own are provided to you.

Hello dear friends and guests of my blog. My name is Pavel Yamb and I want to talk today. Namely, how to become a freelancer, what it is and why education is not important here.

Let's think:

A young mother, on maternity leave, has more and more free time every day, but is still far from going to work. The pensioner is already on vacation, but the pension does not particularly please him. The student has a lot of free time, but he doesn’t know what to do (he doesn’t play tanks online J). You're on vacation, but you haven't saved up any money.

Familiar? If you saw yourself on this list, then the topic of additional income should be of interest to you. In this article, I want to help you and offer you to learn how to become a freelancer from scratch without education. My blog will help you with this, and examples will dispel your doubts.

First you need to make out who a freelancer is and how he differs from an ordinary office worker.

Who are you?

The peculiarity of freelancers is that they do not work in any company, but carry out various orders of employers remotely, using the Internet. This type of work is possible in many professions, for example, programming and of course. Even without education, you can choose for yourself exactly the area in which you understand best.

Many of you have a question: where to start? I propose an algorithm, after passing which, over time, you will be able to receive money while working at home.

Get off your couch or get away from these cats on Vkontakte! If there is an opportunity to work at home and do what you like, and not sit in the office and wait for 18.00 to leave this hated job as soon as possible, use it. Your income will depend only on you!

What you need to get started

Where to work

For beginners, a direct road to freelance exchanges. This is a place where the customer of services, who is ready to pay for them, and the contractor, who is ready to provide them, meet. Ideally, everyone is happy. Your task now is to understand: what you can offer the world, what level of your skills and how much you want to earn. It is on the stock exchange that you will find out everything. You may come across a customer who alone can provide you with work for a year. Or maybe vice versa.

You can immediately rush to complete the task, or you can doubt for a week and not even try. Who will you blame then? Do not be afraid and try - you will gain experience, a very important component, and then, being a master, you will be able to look for customers yourself.

If you suddenly know nothing, then go learn. I used to be a student, and I am still a student. There are many courses, both paid and free, on the Internet. There are even those who promise to employ you later. I recommend 1day1step.ru. My wife has already studied them and is happy - how it was and how such courses are held ...

The most popular freelance exchanges

I offer you the most popular freelance exchanges where you can start making money:

  1. kwork.ru- I recommend!
  2. work-zilla- an old proven exchange.
  3. weblancer.net— one of the largest sites, with a simple interface and a large number of customers. Also, nothing, you can here.
  4. Etxt.ru- a huge exchange for rewriters and copywriters, will allow you to get the first orders, my favorite in copywriting.
  5. freelancer.com- this is already a foreign platform, where about 20 million freelancers are registered. I think for a beginner it will not be superfluous to visit here. My favorite foreign I work with freelancers of this exchange for English-language projects.
  6. Freelance.ru is also a fairly large freelance exchange.
  7. FL.ru- a platform where you need to buy expensive specials. accounts, but thanks to them, the probability of receiving an order increases.

Congratulations, your account is full, you can start searching for your first orders!

If there is silence on one freelance exchange, there is no need to despair - just register on a few more sites, following my previous tips. This will allow you to monitor a greater number of orders, respectively, the opportunity to be a performer increases significantly.

  • The long-awaited moment has come and you have been chosen as the performer! Very good, but this is where your work is just beginning, get serious about the implementation, do not delay the delivery of the order. The customer will appreciate it, thus you will get regular employers who are ready to pay good money for the work.

A fairly simple algorithm that will allow anyone, absolutely from scratch, to become a beginner freelancer. Of course, I do not promise you to immediately receive a very large order on the first day of registration on the freelance exchange, for which the employer offers a tidy sum. It takes some time, you will delve into the work, get regular customers and a decent income from remote work is provided.

Beware of scammers and do not write test tasks for free - any work, if it is done well, should be paid!

Let's recap:

  1. It is quite possible to become a freelancer from scratch;
  2. It is necessary to decide what remote services you can perform with high quality;
  3. You need to start, and not sit on the couch - register on the exchanges and earn money;

Good luck in your search for your work, and may it be a pleasure. If you have questions, feel free to ask. Pavel Yamb was with you. Until communication.
